Rather than lament solitude, rapper Kr3wcial has released a music video reminding us that loneliness is, in fact, something we experience together. Produced by 40-MiD, the song is a soulful take on the dichotomy present in each of us: a desire for both self-reliance and relationships with others.
“Self acceptance is definitely a driving force behind this video, as far as inspiration goes,” says Kr3wcial. “‘Lonely’ is a song addressing my own conflicting behaviors of wanting alone time and room to grow while simultaneously craving intimacy. I definitely think it’s something we can all relate to, ‘cause we all get lonely.”
More serious and emotional than his most recent music video, “Love You 2 Death,” “Lonely” is directed by Delaney George & Dominic Scott of Red Balloon Studios with and shot on location in New Orleans. “Although I definitely enjoy having fun in my videos it’s also important to show balance by providing duality,” he says. “This way I can give fans a chance to grow with me through my music.” Connecting with his fans has become particularly important while our collective lives are on hold during the ongoing pandemic. The final 30 seconds of the video features a “Chopped Not Slopped” version of “Lonely,” mixed by DJ Candle Stick and OG Ron C of the Chopstars. The full remix will be available to stream and download in the Fall. In addition to the video’s release, Kr3wcial announced an exclusive merch release bundle including a t-shirt, sticker and a sensual surprise.
“Lonely will appear on a forthcoming EP, More Love, for which a release date is still pending. The song is but the latest example of the versatility with which Kr3wcial has expressed his hip-hop/soul hybrid identity. Also a producer and recording engineer, he has worked with Grammy nominees Tank and the Bangas as well as NBA YoungBoy and fellow New Orleans artist Pell.
